From our laundry detergents to our hand soaps, Kalista Salon & Spa prides itself on being an eco-responsible business. It is important to us that, to the absolute greatest extent possible, every single product we use is environmentally friendly.

WE DO NOT HAVE ONE ITEM IN OUR SPA TESTED ON ANIMALS. This is tricky because the ingredients in some products are initially tested on animals, but the final products are not. We go to great lengths to make sure the ingredients ARE NOT TESTED ON ANIMALS!

We are also members of the ACLU to combat discrimination! Our staff is a melting pot of people and everyone of every race, religion, and nationality is welcome to work for us and visit us!!!!!

But we care about more than just the environment: Besides the style and comfort for which we are known, we offer our clients laughter, hospitality, and a sense of friendship, 7 days a week!

No, we are definitely NOT your average salon and spa!  One step into Kalista and you'll find your second home, a place where you are appreciated not just for why you came, but for who you are. Our staff and clientele, representative of the part of Portland that we call home, are both incredibly colorful and diverse--and that's how we like it!  But don't take our word for it, come see for yourself. And bring a friend!

Owners Comments

We want to thank you for taking the time to look through the Kalista site. Weve been around now for 13 years--and have loved every minute of it. A big part of what makes Kalista great is the continuing education of its staff. It's important to me that all of my technicians are up to date on the latest techniques and modalities for their respective trades. Our goal is to create an environment that women and men can build foundations on. My salon is a family where dreams become realities. The success of this salon is the success of this staff. We truly love our staff!

Outside of my salon, my dog Clarence is my first love, and was my impetus for creating a salon specifically designed around cruelty-free, eco-friendly products. I never could have done it without him.

I also want to thank God! Without him I never would have gotten this far. I needed to remind myself without God I am nothing. So I welcome all the comments, good and bad, and am thankful for them. Because I do learn from every comment made, and even if it is a lie, I still take something from it. "Where there is no pain, there is no growth." I thank God for all that he has done and for how far he has brought me, and the people he has brought in and out of my life. "God is my CEO."

Thanks for reading, God bless.
